My Work
Work (It is never work when I am writing)
I’ve worked in hospitality and run my own dog walking and pet care business from a young age, which has been a slightly chaotic but very useful introduction to the world of work.
Recently, I was lucky enough to land some paid writing work, which has made me realise that maybe this thing I’ve been doing in my head for years could actually become something more real.
While I’m studying Journalism at the University of Adelaide, I’m hoping to take on more casual and freelance writing opportunities. I genuinely love writing, even when the topic is outside my comfort zone. Apparently that now includes wine and football, which I did not particularly see coming.
I also have a bit of a love-hate relationship with AI. Mostly because it is impressive, useful, slightly terrifying, and occasionally writes like it has never met a person. But I do think there will always be a place for writers who can make websites, social media and emails sound more human, they say that is now a content creator but I would like to continue calling myself a writer.
I’ve also started looking into technical writing, which actually sounds quite interesting. I’m not completely sure where writing will take me yet, but for now I’d like to gain as much experience across as many genres as I can.
Basically, I want to write more.
That seems like a good place to start.
